VELOX has collected the most frequently asked questions from our customers and partners for you. Find here the answers. If your questions here remain unanswered, please feel welcome to contact the VELOX team.
1) What is the wood-concrete construction or board-clip- construction?
For the wood-concrete construction the face concrete boards are attached together with clips to form the formwork with a continuous concrete core. Standard format of the boards: 50/200 cm
The clips are available in all desired concrete core thicknesses and wall thicknesses.
2) How does the production of wood-chip concrete works?
Softwood chips as they are produced by nature or as residual wood, which is generated during the processing, are the basic raw material for the production of the natural building material wood-concrete.
With minimum of energy consumption, the wood chips are crushed in mills blown to the correct size and then mixed with minerals, cement and water and then pressed into insulation chip boards.
The prevention of environmental pollution, especially to keep the air and the water clean, is a guiding principle for our production technology. Production residues are recycled back into the production process. Therefore, wood-concrete serves to maintain the ecological balance and a healthy environment as a basis for healthy life and living!
3) What are wood-concrete wall modules?
Storey high wall modules are a further development of the proven wall systems. They are industrially prefabricated. These elements are immediately ready for use, while we garantee maintaining consistent quality. Prefabricated wall modules provide a resource-use planning and flexibility in the construction as well as processing with rapid progress.
4) What is a wood-concrete formwork element?
Additional products to traditional building methods for columns and lintels are made to measure and replace the otherwise complicated operations of "shuttering work".
Formwork for ceiling and wall rosettes:
Formwork made of Insulation chip boards to put together with clips
Cement-bonded chip boards are casing, insulation and lathing in one!
formwork for walls with in-situ concrete:
Ceiling-shuttering boards are inserted to the walls with in-situ concrete formwork and thus replace the shuttering– no shifting of the formwork is required!
Attica and parapet walls can also be produced as prefabricated wall modules.
5) How do I reach air tightness?
The VELOX-face concrete system with face concrete boards is due to the continuous concrete core suited for the production of load-bearing wall components to achieve the air tightness.
6) What is meant by the "lost formwork?
The term "lost formwork" refers to that formwork, which is required for the construction of a wall and which still remains after the wall is being concreted. The lost formwork is also installation area and plaster base in one!
7) What is the modular construction?
The modular construction means room-high, completed shuttering-walls, which are moved and filled with concrete at the construction site.
8.) What can be done against noise?
"Noise is the environmental impact, from which the population feels most affected. About 1.5 million Austrians complain about noise from traffic. Studies attest alongside health outcomes, such as Vasoconstriction, increased release of stress hormones and hearing loss, further problems with communication, learning, concentration and sleep disorders. And the future outlook is not better, because the volume of traffic will continue to increase. Noise will be an issue for every fifth person in Austria. "
9.) What is noise insulation?
Regarding the topic noise insulation the noise protection element is building a barrier against noise. Excerpt from the ZTV-LSW 06: (Technical Guidelines of the Federal Ministry of Transport) " noise protection walls and their connections to other buildings or structural elements must be continuous through the wall, A-evaluate noise at least 25 dB reduce (insulation)".Velox noise protection walls have an noise insulation of> 25 dB up to 40 dB.
10.) What is noise absorption?
Regarding the topic noise absorption the noise is absorbed by the noise protection element. Excerpt from the ZTV-LSW 06: (Technical Guidelines of the Federal Ministry of Transport)
"The reflected noise (traffic noise) from a wall surface (throwing back) must taking in consideration of the A-evaluate for a reflective surfaces less than 4 dB, for absorbent surfaces at least 4 dB - but less than 8 d B, and for superabsorbent surfaces at least 8 dB lower than the noise level in this area incident noise.”
In VELOX noise protection walls, the absorption is 4-14 dB.
